A rare Mediterranean cyclone severely whittled two days in Rome down to a few hours. Rome is like a second home, and I was looking forward to being back, however briefly, but now it was to be very brief indeed. No matter: every minute spent in Rome is a bonus to one’s life. Hailing a cab near St Peter’s and instructions to drop us near Piazza Navona, I gave my companions a whirlwind but fulfilling two-hour tour in which we visited– or at least said ciao to– five churches, three piazzas, three fountains, and two palazzos. Va bené.
