2016 Donaldson Run

A growing family needed more room than their well-situated 195o ranch gave them; a new second story provided the solution.  A “cripple wall” on the existing masonry raised the first floor ceilings so that the interior spaces have the proper proportion for the new layout.  The client is a fan of symmetry, but the elements of the existing house dictated that the façade be asymmetrical.  The solution was to balance the composition so that the eye comes to rest on the front door.
