Kitchen and sunroom in North Arlington within existing footprint.  The goal was to create a warm space that captures mid-day light.  The cabinets are from IKEA, which resulted in tremendous savings compared to a typical similar project. 

Raising the ceiling to the underside of the roof structure and cladding it in painted beadboard make this small footprint feel larger than it is without losing a sense of human scale.  Existing steel ties were freshly painted in a warm tone that matches the palette below, while new structural rafter ties above are painted the same color as the ceiling so they provide interesting shadows without too much distraction.
