How can you mend a broken heart?
With a ukulele, of course.
Although the Bee Gees version is its own kind of soulful, it is just shy of cloying. I love the Al Green version. He slows it down and adds that Hammond organ, somehow managing to turn a three-minute Brit-pop hit into a seven-minute soul dirge. Brilliant.
Shooting for something in the middle, I added a third verse with the intention of using it for a harmonica solo, but I found the solo jarring and unnecessary. Keep it simple. A little tremolo on the amp but otherwise this is a single track of a single take.
